Our Child Doesn't Want to Go to School (Bradenton)

I am the mother of a 6th grade boy enrolled in a local elementary school here in Bradenton. I was born in Puerto Rico and my husband is Irish American. We both work full time and we own a home. We pay school taxes every year as part of the property taxes on our home. When I ask our child "how was school today Johnny?" his answers are very upsetting to both me and my husband. He has told us that when school first started, there weren't enough desks for all the kids to sit down, and the teacher had to make the kids take turns standing up or laying on the floor throughout the day. He also says that many of the kids in his class don't speak English and that during recess they stay in one large group and speak Spanish. They never have their homework done, and when the class reviews the homework together, the teacher lets them put their heads down on their desks and take a nap, or lets them eat their snacks. Our son wonders why he has to do his homework and answer questions, while some of the other kids do not.
