📙Want to go deeper than your current high school algebra or calculus coursework? With my long-time experience teaching and advising students and supervising other teachers of the ENTIRE college Math curriculum, I know the best way to help you gain a deeper mathematical insight than your coursework might be providing. At any level.
Frustrated with algebra or calculus? You can succeed in seeing the big picture AND understanding the necessary details with clear explanations, key examples, patient instruction, and measurable results.
Over the past five years, I've helped dozens of Sarasota students understand the surprisingly simple basics behind confusing math concepts, reducing anxiety, and boosting confidence, grades, and appreciation for mathematics.
I only help students in courses whose content I have taught many times over the past 30 years for which I have detailed pages on my Wix website at

No matter your preferred learning style, I will have suggestions of the best ways for YOU to learn mathematical concepts YOUR WAY quickly and even enjoyably!
I can meet at any reasonably-quiet public place such as a county library, a local coffee shop, or your home. Or you can suggest another place. Attached is a photo of a typical table lay-out.
My rate is $20 plus $20 per half hour in-person from Fruitville Road to Laurel Road. So a 1-hour session would be $60 or a 2-hour session $100.
Always payable at the end of a session, usually Zelle or Paypal, at which time you may schedule a further session. Or not. As you see fit.

I highly recommend Dr. Paulling for any advanced math.
He has an infectious enthusiasm for math and can teach the full range of advanced high school and college math.
His tutoring has helped me throughout high school to not only learn math topics, but to also deeply understand them to a level that is often unobtainable in a regular classroom.
His virtual classroom setup allows for a smooth learning experience that eliminates the common negative stereotypes of online learning.
Dr. Paulling's expert help has allowed me to excel at and gain a lifelong appreciation for math.

I strongly recommend Dr. Paulling for any tutoring related to advanced math, calc, trig, etc...
... boys both sophomores in SHS's Cambridge AICE's program and they were struggling mightily with advanced math/ pre-calc. Both boys were closed to failing after their 1st quarter and by 3rd quarter they've raised their grade to a B. Grades are not everything however and even their teacher has acknowledged that they've grown in their abilities to reason.
Aside from intellect, which of course if critical for a tutor, Dr. Paulling is also dependable, flexible, fair and goes the extra mile.

Dr. Paulling is a great math teacher, and I was greatly helped by him in calculus. Coming into college, I was an average math student at best, but he completely changed my perspective on math and made the highest level math class I have ever taken seem elementary. I enjoy and appreciate math much more since working with Dr. Paulling, and I highly recommend him as a tutor.

We appreciate you. [our son] enjoys his lessons with you. He never complains about going over math with you, and you have to know that [our son] likes to complain to us about any teachers not teaching him in school.
We agree that his school math is probably too easy for him, and so you have been good for him. Thanks again. Merry Christmas and stay safe.

He is a great teacher and very committed with himself and his students. He is friendly and joyful always making sure that his students are learning so there will be a good interaction with them.

[my son] ended up with a 75.39% [on Statistic STA 2023 which he had been failing] which is passing, and that was the goal!!!
Thank you so much 😊
Without your help, passing would not have happened for him.

I would highly recommend Dr. Paulling for a tutor. He is very dependable and very detailed in his explanations. I struggled with a college math course, and with his help I passed and understand Algebra.

Currently taking AICE Probability and Statistics or an introductory college Statistics course like STA2023?
Most recently in teaching Statistics I have used the TI84 calculator, but have also taught with statistical software. So I can help you with whatever method your class uses, be it by calculator programs on the TI84, statistical software, or rote entry of a proper statistical formula.
Do you want to get ahead or need extra help in high school algebra, geometry, statistics, or trigonometry?
Over the past 20 years I have taught these courses at the "developmental" level [that is, at the high school level, but to college students at a faster pace] for beginning college students who want a more solid understanding. I have also supervised other teachers of these same courses for about 15 years. So I can help any student who needs sharper skills in high school algebra, geometry, statistics, or trigonometry courses.
Are you currently in high school but want to be better prepared for college?
For the past 30 years I have taught college mathematics at all levels, from developmental courses in pre-algebra and algebra, to the required Math and Stat courses for students in Science, Education, and the medical field. So I understand what mathematics and statistics a student needs in order to be prepared for almost any prospective college major. Furthermore I can give guidance on planning a college pathway and course selection.
Are you a Math major wanting direction or help in any major course?
As a PhD mathematician teaching and advising Math majors for over 30 years, I know the best ways to help Math Major students in advanced courses.
Face-to-face or Zoom?
Although I prefer face-to-face sessions for your sake, I also do sessions via Zoom, or a mix. And after a Zoom meeting I will send you annotated notes of our session.
Among the attached photos you can see a typical face-to-face table-top session, as well as my desk set up for a Zoom session, with multiple monitors, a Wacom writing pad, and iPhone brace for handwriting on paper when helpful.
I also have extra copies of key physical textbooks you may borrow or keep and know of www-based interactive texts as well.
You can look at my Wix site "Sarasota Tutoring" for more details, or search Google Maps for more information.
Or look on this page to see photos of a statistics text I've recently taught from, as well as pages from a few of my tests with my complete answers.
