Shift: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday, 5:15 AM – 7:00 PM (Until Finished)
Schedule Note: May work Saturdays following a holiday
Job Summary
The Helper works alongside the Route Driver and assists in the collection of residential waste and/or recyclable materials. This is a physically demanding position requiring reliability, teamwork, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ride on the back of garbage or recycling collection trucks and assist the driver during routes.
Load waste, yard debris, or recyclables into collection trucks safely and efficiently.
Follow all company safety standards, OSHA regulations, and local/state/federal laws.
Report unsafe situations, hazards, or service-related issues immediately to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
Attend all required training programs, safety meetings, and daily briefings.
Maintain respectful and professional behavior toward coworkers, drivers, and customers.
Requirements
Experience: 0–1 year (prior outdoor or labor experience preferred).
Attendance: Must be dependable and punctual — consistent attendance is required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
Able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
Comfortable working in hot, cold, and wet environments.
Equipment: Steel-toed boots are required — no exceptions.
Preparedness: Bring your own food and water daily.
Flexibility: Be prepared for early start times and possible short days (workers may be sent home early and must return the next day).
